Stitched by hand. Sealed in leather. Carried wherever you go.

Long before pockets and safes, the people of the Himalaya kept what mattered most close to the body. This bracelet carries on that old habit: a small leather keepsake case, stitched shut around something precious, and braided onto the wrist so it travels wherever you do.

The Keeper of the Ember (Leather Amulet · Cinnabar & Tibetan Herbs)

Across the Tibetan plateau, travellers and nomads have long carried meaningful keepsakes in small cases — the gau — or stitched them into leather and worn them against the skin. This piece is a pocket-sized version of that tradition. A tablet of deep-green cowhide, crackled like old lacquer, is saddle-stitched by hand with tan thread. At its centre, a clear dome seals a single sphere of cinnabar and Tibetan herbs. Cinnabar is a deep red long linked to fortune and vitality, and the herbs are ingredients long kept in Himalayan households, carrying the spirit of the high plateau. Turn the amulet over and a Tibetan syllable is pressed into the leather. Worn daily, the leather softens, darkens and takes on a polish from the wrist, slowly becoming a record of the roads it has travelled.

The Anatomy of the Ember

Around the amulet, each braided section holds a charm chosen to keep it company:

The Unbreakable (Copper Vajra): A cast copper vajra swings free from the cord. The diamond-thunderbolt is traditionally a symbol of what cannot be broken.

The Blessing Within (Copper Nyagla Chacha): A small copper Nyagla Chacha, in the form of the relics pressed and carried by Himalayan pilgrims, lends the piece weight and quiet blessing.

The Spark (Red Agate): A single bead of red agate, traditionally associated with courage, steadiness and earthly vitality, glows like a coal within the braid.

The Bones of the Plateau (Yak Bone): Carved and weathered yak bone beads. In Tibetan custom, bone is a reminder that life is brief and worth living fully.

The Binding Thread (Hand-Braided Cord): Forest green and dark plum strands, braided by hand and finished with copper end beads and loose-fringed tails.

The Ritual Fit

Materials: Hand-stitched cowhide amulet with cinnabar and Tibetan herbs sealed beneath a clear dome; copper vajra and Nyagla Chacha; red agate; yak bone beads; hand-braided green and plum cord.
Size: Adjustable sliding closure, fits 5.5–9.4 in / 14–24 cm.
Weight: Approx. 18 g / 0.6 oz.
Wear it: Alone, or stacked with other cord and bone bracelets.
Intention: Protection, blessing and good fortune.

Note: Each piece is stitched and braided by hand, so leather grain, bead markings and cord pattern vary slightly. The leather and copper deepen with wear, building a patina that is yours alone.
